Any fx people still around?

I'm trying to compile all knowledge I can find about mme/wolfcam into a jumble inside my head, for writing down in a legible format later. Right now I'm trying to figure out how fx work, and I've got a couple resources but they're old. There's an mme wiki that shut down only a few days ago, and had two pages: a basic guide to the fx format, and a home page linking to said guide. Luckily I had the page cached so I saved it and thus have all the info stored on it. However not only is it incomplete, but it's pretty basic and doesn't do a good job of explaining everything in a way that an idiot like me can understand.

Back in the day, we had rEnk and jones, the two big fx gods. I talked to rEnk a lot and he gave me all his scripts, but they're complicated and there are no useful comments. I only talked to jones on IRC here and there, and I never got his big fx pack. He wanted to write a guide once, but never did. I learned a little bit from them but never dove very far into fx scripting.

Now I'm trying again, more than five years late, to learn fx scripting and document my findings. It's slow going with all the dead links and nobody around any more who is knowledgeable on this topic.

I always thought you were in some tight-knit community of modders and fx guys anyway. So apparently you were'nt but you've talked to rEnk and so. Sorry you are still missing information. I have no info that I could give to you. Managing this forum but my posts don't help people much anymore

Isn't there also an fx community for the Quake Live or Quake Champions games? Could always take some fx that those games have, improve and then integrate them into Q3 for movies I guess.

I was, pretty much everyone who mattered was in my irc channel, or the movie making one. But those days are long gone, and communication has faded. Jones is gone, renk is gone, and there aren't many knowledgeable people left.

I don't have many fx any more, I have renk's pack which is great but hard to learn from. I'm trying to find Jones' pack, because he liked to leave lots of comments, and he made a script specifically for teaching, in which he explained almost every line.

Anyway, come to the discord and chat, maybe lolograde will want to interview you
