Hey all!
Came back to the forum after a long while. Been 8 years as well after I made my last Q3 movie, and planning to dive straight into it again. I was thinking to make a Quake III movie to celebrate Q3's 20 year anniversary in december. I saw Q3MME received an awesome new update, thanks guys for that!
I do have a few questions now, or some things I was wondering, as things have changed/shifted in q3mme:
- Can I change the centerdraw font itself? How can I do that? I kind of dislike the original You have fragged font used in Quake III. Even when scaling down the centerdraw it doesnt really suit my taste.
- I see a new mode has been added in Q3MME called Scripts. I have read some topics in the general thread. It really looks like rocket science to me. What do scripts do, how do I load them, where do I store them, and what does the scripts mode exactly do within Q3MME? To my understanding, once a script loads it's just there right? Or is the scripts mode a dedicated editing mode? I have downloaded a complete rar of scripts elsewhere on the forum, but I am a bit lost on how to use these, and possibly, how to make my own. I kind of want to upgrade my railgun, rockets for example.
- I use the timeline in and out function for batch capturing offscreen. That works great. I want to use the demo cutter for on screen capturing as I dislike all the excessive additional space on my demos. And, its because Im too lazy to Shift + A. I have set the in and outpoint on my demo with the brackets, and hit the slash button. Q3MME says the demo is succesfully cut, however nothing changes. Q and E doesn't do anything as I do not have any keyframes set. Do I have to reload the demo in order for it to have effect, or does demo cutting not work in first person mode? The length is still the same after cutting. It normally should jump to the new in point as the starting point of the demo, right?
- To what extent is function 4, the capture function that was originally in previous versions of Q3MME, still functionable and usable in Q3MME 1.8? Is it gone/obsolete? I do see a message in the left corner of the screen indicating that it still sort of ish works, but what I can do in mode 4, I can also do in the timeline mode with visual feedback when I set the timeline in and out points.
Edit october 6th: one last question: When i batch capture with mme renderwith and height to 1920x1080, my screen becomes increasingly bright and colors are off, this normally happens when i start quake 3, so i know it is normal. but when i want to do something else when the batch capture happens it can be a bit frustrating. if i change renderwith and height in the bat file to zero, will it still render at 1080p and then for instance stop the brighter colors?
Thnx guys!
