Ok, many people have asked me that recently, so instead of explaining things over and over again I figured it would be easier to make tutorial for everybody.
This tutorial is for those who wish to use their 1.16 demos with q3mme or any other mod (which doesn't support .dm3[1.16])
Step 1 - Tools/files you need
-Point release 1.32 (GOOGLE!)
-q3DC, q3sdc (jones.maverickservers.com/data/q3sdc+q3dc.rar) both files are there and just extract everything to Quake III Arena folder
-cpma mod (www.promode.org) should play most of demos from other mods
-(optional)q3mme (q3mme.proboards.com/index.cgi?) if you want to use your .dm_68 demo later on with q3mme
Step 2 - .dm3 -> .dm_48
So I assume you already have your_demo_name.dm3, hold and drag the demo INTO q3DC.exe. Now check your folder again where your demo is, you should see new demo with .dm_48 extension.
Step 3 - .dm_48 -> .dm_68
Ok, we're halfway trough. Take your .dm_48 demo and put it into CPMA/demos (which you downloaded earlier). Start q3sdc with q3sdc.bat (NOT q3sdc.exe). Type in console /sddemos and you should see list of all available demos, check the number of demo you wish to use and do /sdplay -number here-, the demo should start now. Now you should re-record (/g_synchronousclients 1; /record demoname). Probably you do not wish to sit and wait in real time, so you can use /timescale -value here- 1 is normal, 2 is twice as normal etc... after the demo is recorded, exit q3.
Now you should have .dm_68 demo but don't be surprised if it doesn't work properly since errors/bugs might occur, but it's better than nothing I guess
