Hi again,
I am working on a new vid. This time based on Q3DM17. The idea is doing something a little bit more complex.
For this matter I'd need at some point to separate the sky. It would be really helpful being able to record it green or whatever uncommon color to do a chroma color mask.
Any ideas on how to do that?
I've seen there are some vars such as r_showsky, r_fastsky, so maybe something can be done there.
Thanks in advance !!

Hey,
I don't remember how to do that. Wasn't this very easy? Did you read the tutorials and everything? Cannot imagine that this was hard at all.

My apologies. I though I did check what was available. My bad.
It is an interesting list!! cg_drawSpeedometer will be useful for my third vid (for which I am learning to do custom maps!).
Thanksssss !

There're always hidden difficulties.. According to this q3mme.proboards.com/thread/197/mme-skykey-problem the issue is that q3dm17 has no sky to paint. Tested the feature with other maps with skybox and works perfect. I'll see what can I do to get it done. Those Q3 designers obsessively optimizing everything to the point that there's no sky.. !!

I wanted to have a sky in q3dm17 for videos but I could not do it. A friend of mine helped me and put a skymap into it. Pretty cool ones from my favorite defrag map qsrun-proto. And there are some other skinned maps here, too. Use as you like. You could use one of these dm17's and key out the skymap here if that works. Lighting might be screwed up on the maps a bit. But of course you could key out the sky on this map and then use the rest as a mask for the footage you record with the original dm17. Let me know how you like these, should be fun : D auri.co.uk/files/quake/?dir=skins%2Fmaps

Is it possible that it needs some assets from elsewhere? I copy them to the baseq3, see them in the listing, but clicking the "fight" button get's to do nothing.
Have tried with two different quake 3 original installations. I do play custom maps.. have no clue what this can be. Sry for coming back with problem after problem...
Meanwhile for another vid I'm approaching to map creation.. skyboxes can be my 1st lesson !

Issue solved. Again, my lack of knowledge.
This zzz files changed the actual q3dm17 map. As I saw it listed as a different map, that's what I thought it was it, but if you just play q3dm17 it is the original map + the zzz-file modification.
Such a cool sky BTW !

Oh yes, I thought you knew so I did not think to mention it. The zzz prefix exists because quake loads files in order and replaces already loaded files with newer ones. So when you load quake it first loads all the files alphabetically and q3dm17 and other maps are in pak0.pk3. You can open .pk3 files just like you would open any .zip files. With winrar or whatever you like. So it loads the map from pak0.pk3, then it tries to load the zzz- named files and because they contain the same files inside the q3dm17 map files are overwritten while loading, so that version exists. Of course this is the only way because otherwise how would you play the demos if it were another map Glad you solved this by youself. You really have lots of issues : D
